Bottom Line Up Front
Systemic MSC infusions marketed as “anti-aging” therapy cost $7,000–$12,500 in Colombia. What the evidence supports: reduced systemic inflammation, improved immune modulation markers, and subjective reports of improved energy and wellbeing. What the evidence does not support: reversal of aging, increased lifespan, or regeneration of aged organs. Evidence level: 3–4. If you are considering this treatment, go in with eyes wide open.
Evidence Level: Level 3–4
Small case series and observational studies report subjective improvements. No randomized controlled trials have demonstrated anti-aging effects. The gap between marketing claims and published evidence is significant in this category.
The anti-aging stem cell market is the most oversold segment of regenerative medicine. Luxury clinics around the world charge $10,000–$50,000 for systemic MSC infusions marketed as rejuvenation therapy, longevity treatments, or age-reversal protocols. Some of these clinics are staffed by legitimate physicians using real MSCs. Many are not.
What MSCs May Do Systemically
MSCs have well-documented immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. When infused intravenously, they home to areas of inflammation and release paracrine factors that modulate immune function. Published data suggests potential benefits including reduced systemic inflammation markers (CRP, IL-6), improved immune surveillance, enhanced wound healing capacity, and subjective improvements in energy, sleep quality, and cognitive clarity reported by patients in case series.
What MSCs Do Not Do
They do not reverse the aging process. They do not increase telomere length (despite marketing claims). They do not regenerate aged organs. They do not provide a permanent effect from a single treatment. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling hope, not science.
